Who we are

Strengthening Communities for Race Equality Scotland (SCOREscotland) is a voluntary organisation serving the minority ethnic communities in the West of Edinburgh. The organisation strives to eliminate racism in our society by working for and with those who are affected by racial discrimination.

Our Mission:

To work in partnership to address the causes and effects of racism and to promote race equality.

To break down barriers to enable the full participation of minority ethnic communities in all aspects of civic life. By full participation in civic life, we mean:

- Equality of access to public services and information
- Ability to contribute to and influence policy development and service delivery
- Full participation in social, political, cultural, and economic life
- Feeling valued and integrated as part of society

Our Value Statement:

SCOREscotland is committed to social justice and equal opportunities for all by providing a service that is accessible and inclusive. A united community is the backbone of a cohesive and harmonious society and the organisation strives to “put the unity back into community.”

Our services

Advice and Information – General advice, information and support to service users.

Case Work – Advocacy and representation for people experiencing racial discrimination, abuse and/or harassment.

Youth Work – Opportunities for children and young people to further develop their social skills through organised play and activities, and tackle issues that concern them as stated by the young people themselves.

Group Work – Opportunities for adults to come together to overcome isolation and barriers to participation.

Awareness Raising/Training – Build awareness and knowledge in a range of contemporary issues relevant to the daily life of ethnic minority individuals. Opportunities to learn new skills, which empower them to participate effectively in all aspects of civic life.

Programme of Events and Activities – Programmes designed to bring together people from diverse communities, promoting integration and advancing social cohesion.
